Massey 7S Series tractors deliver versatility and implement power

by

Massey Ferguson debuted their entire S Series lineup this past February at the National Farm Machinery Show in Kentucky, and today we are going to take a closer look at the 7S series, the big brother to 6S that we took you through earlier.

As we look to up the ante from the 6S, the 7S will provide producers with ample power with it’s 6 cylinder engine with various options providing horsepower ranging from 155 – 210. Additionally, the 7S it has about an eight inch longer wheelbase than the 6S. Now, with the 6S providing anywhere from 145-180 horsepower, some may be asking, why make the step up to the 7S when the power is seemingly comparable.

Adam Sills, marketing product specialist with AGCO, says the 7S is for producers who need a little extra weight to better navigate terrain, or to handle some of the most robust implements.

“Let’s say you’re operating on some hilly slopes and you’ve got a round baler and you need a little bit heavier tractor to kind of hold that hillside, you might want to jump up to the 7S. Maybe you’ve got some big mounted tools and you need the weight of the tractor to be able to handle those implements, but you still need that compact dimension that maneuverability to run your loader, this still is going to be a great tractor without sacrificing that [feature].”

Speaking of maneuverability, the MF 7S boasts a 16-foot, 2-inch turning radius and turning circle under 33 feet, this on top of  a 113.4-inch wheelbase and the best-in-class axle suspension provides optimal traction even in the most challenging applications.

Sills says Massey has not veered off the path when it comes to transmissions, keeping the same two, highly impressive, options that are available in the 6S.

“Both the 6S and 7S have either a Dyna six which is a 24 speed powershift transmission, or the Dyna VT. The Dyna VT is AGCO CVT transmission, which is known worldwide for its performance and reliability as in the CVT transmission.”

Keeping continuity and comfort  in mind, Sills says they wanted producers to be able to jump into any of the S series and know where everything is and to reap the benefits of the comfortability factor.

The MF 7S Series cab layout uses simple colour coding on all controls for an intuitive operator experience. The new Datatronic 5 terminal, available with Deluxe trim, offers a single integrated system for all tractor technology, camera and ISOBUS. This cutting-edge system allows for quick and easy setup changes on hydraulics, transmission and engine for efficient operation. The single monitor setup allows producers to track important systems and function in one convenient place for a more user-friendly experience. Producers can customize up to five dashboards so the information they need is always at their fingertips.

Additionally, the new MF Guide, which reduces overlap and can save up to 12% fuel in field operations. Massey also offers MF Section and MF Rate Control, which minimize skips and wasted product for optimal efficiency.

All this, while still maximizing comfort with passive and active mechanical cab suspension, a seven-degree cooler cab, plenty of glass providing a 360 degree view and also, LED lights, to maximize nighttime visibility.
