Grain Farmers of Ontario (GFO) is looking for new research opportunities aimed at enhancing farmer profitability and competitiveness of the province’s grains sector.
From now until Wednesday, July 13, 2022, GFO invites researchers or individuals to submit Research Letters of Intent (LOI) that align with the producer groups research priorities.
“Innovation in farming is vitally important to the sustainable growth of the grain industry. Grain Farmers of Ontario sets priority research areas each year, through consultation with our farmer-members, academia, and the industry,” says Paul Hoekstra, vice president of strategic development, Grain Farmers of Ontario. “Within each priority area, Grain Farmers of Ontario invests funds in projects, strives to maximize public sector research investment, and encourage private sector research investment.”
The projects must address a specific challenge or opportunity for barley, corn, oat, soybean, or wheat across four overall priority areas:
- Agronomy and production
- Weed, disease and insect pests
- Crop quality and utilization
- Breeding and genetics
