Saskatchewan disaster relief fund widens parameters to include producers who gross over $2 million per year

by

The Provincial Disaster Assistance Program (PDAP) has adjusted the eligibility requirements to now include producers who gross more than $2 million per annum. The previous requirements capped the small business parameters at $2 million, which left many cattle producers ineligible to recover losses sustained this spring after a string of severe weather events.

The program says it recognizes, that in Saskatchewan, it is reasonable for a family-run farming operation to exceed this threshold of $2 million in gross annual revenues, but not have the capacity to recover without government assistance.

“We recognize the impact these storms have had on Saskatchewan’s agricultural producers, especially those who have lost livestock as a result,” says Christine Tell, Minister of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety. “This supplemental initiative will help Saskatchewan producers who did not originally qualify for support under the existing program.”

Those who are now eligible and require assistance through the program are encouraged to apply; those who have applied already will automatically be considered under the new requirements and do not need to resubmit an application.
