The Manitoba government posted a job listing for a new deputy minister of agriculture this week, making it official that Dori Gingera-Beauchemin is planning to retire this coming winter.
Gingera-Beauchemin has worked with Manitoba Ag for 43 years — since 1979 — and has led the provincial agriculture department as deputy minister since 2013.
Her time as deputy minister spanned both New Democrat and Progressive Conservative governments, as she worked with Ministers Ron Kostyshyn, Ralph Eichler, Blaine Pedersen, and current minister Derek Johnson.
She served as assistant deputy minister prior to taking on the deputy role.
Reaction on Twitter to word of Gingera-Beauchemin’s upcoming retirement:
She is one of the most influential ag deputy ministers in ?? Her experience, wisdom and strong steady hand will be missed esp for women in agriculture. She is well deserving of retirement and happiness.
