The K-Hart Spyder enters the seeder market

by

The drill market in Western Canada has a new entrant, which is sure to catch people’s eye not only due to its bright green colour, but its unique transport folding system.

The K-Hart Industries Spyder drill has been undergoing testing over the last few years and is officially for sale as of 2022, notes Ken Parson, owner and CEO of the Elrose, Sask., seeding equipment manufacturer, in the interview below, filmed at Ag in Motion.

While other drills fold into a U shape, the Spyder has a unique design.

“It folds into a nice, narrow package for safe transport…it looks like an M, or like a spider,” he says.

Parson says the undercut disc openers on the unit are also unique. “They work very well in heavy residue conditions with very little hair-pinning, in wetter conditions, drier conditions, it’s really quite well-suited to any zero-till conditions.”

The design also provides easy access to each opener, he says, while fertilizer is applied via inter-row coulters.

Row spacing on the Spyder can be set from 7.5” to 12”, and the unit is available in widths from 40’ to 74’.
