Alberta beef industry promises one-year supply of beef if Jimmy Kimmel attends conference

by

The Alberta Beef Industry Conference (ABIC) is set for February 22-23, 2023, at Banff, Alta., and this year the group made a call out on social media for a special guest to attend.

ABIC is one of Canada’s largest beef convention and tradeshows, hosted by five beef industry organizations in the province: Alberta Beef Producers, Alberta Cattle Feeders’ Association, Alberta Auction Markets Association, Alberta Livestock Dealers and Order Buyers Association, and the Western Stock Growers Association.

To get some attention for the conference, and Canadian beef, Jake Bueckert, chair of the Alberta Cattle Feeders’ Association, made a video inviting Jimmy Kimmel to the conference. (Shown in the tweet, below)

In the video, Kimmel is offered tours of Banff, dog sledding, feedlot tours, and a years’ supply of Alberta Beef. Although he doesn’t have overly high expectations of Kimmel responding to the post, Bueckert says any opportunity to make people laugh, and think about Alberta Beef in a positive light, is something they see as important.

“It’s a pretty amazing conference, people seem to love to come to it. And the whole industry is pretty amazing. So anything we can do to just kind of promote that, and not always take the serious side to light, but also some of the chuckles and fun side of it, too,” he explains.

2023 will mark the 20th anniversary of ABIC, as well as the 50th anniversary of the Alberta Cattle Feeders’ Association.
