Highline's TMR tow-behind mixer is built for extreme conditions

by

Highline Manufacturing Ltd made its entrance into the tow-behind total mixed ration (TMR) market at Agri-Trade at Red Deer, Alta.

The 750-cubic-foot tub is built for the extreme conditions of North America — where feeding can happen in very cold, windy, muddy, and snowy conditions.

Bob Cochran, general manager of Highline Manufacturing Lt., says the big running gear and high flotation tires on dual axles were made for challenges at feeding time.

“We don’t want to sell a machine with small tires on a single axle that’s going to get stuck in the mud in April. So right away, we’ve gone with heavy running gear underneath. We’ve also put a very large unload door on it — so we’re unloading fast and smoothly, so that the tractor doesn’t have to start and stop. It makes the job of feeding really quick in these extreme conditions,” he explains.

The towed version of the mixer is adding another tool in the toolbox to the total livestock lineup, says Cochran, with the MSRP sitting around $140,000 list.
