In-person, online, or a hybrid model: Which is the conference winner?

by

Looking at our calendars for the next few weeks and into the first quarter of 2023 makes it feel like we are back to pre-pandemic levels of travel.

While our travel schedules here at RealAgriculture may have gone back to the same as “before,” how winter conferences are conducted has evolved.

One of the examples of this was the AgExcellence 2022 conference Shaun Haney and I had the opportunity to attend this past week at Canmore, Alta. Attendance at the conference was strong, with many attendees citing how excited they were to be back in a real hotel conference room, with living, breathing people.

This particular conference, put on by Farm Management Canada, opted to still have the opportunity to attend online. Organizers say that attendance online was strong — especially among the younger audience, with young families at home and having busy schedules.

While I don’t disagree with either sentiment, the conversations I had sparked this week’s poll question: Which type of conference are you most likely to attend this winter learning season? Do you like the hybrid model, or do you have a preference?
