There’s a saying that goes hire slow and fire fast. But does that old adage hold true?
Amber Johnson, CEO and owner of Forge Performance Group, based in Alberta, says that there isn’t a simple answer to that; if you’ve done the right preparation work ahead of time, asked key questions, and offered a comprehensive on-boarding process, the “firing fast” part is less likely to occur.
In this episode of Mind Your Farm Business, Johnson joins host Shaun Haney to tackle some big-picture questions, such as how to find the right people for a job, how to craft interview questions with intention, and why it’s so important to hire based on a company’s core values.
Johnson also offers insight on the pitfalls of prioritizing experience over core values, how many interviews are too many, and how to handle checking references.
