New look, more power featured in Claas Lexion 8000 Series combines

by

Claas Lexion 8000 Series combines will have a new look, more power, and larger grain storage in 2023.

The combine maker says the updates are designed to give growers more tools to achieve the best results while harvesting and make the most out of each hour in the field. In this interview at the National Farm Machinery Show at Louisville, Kentucky, Claas product supervisor Jeff Gray shares what growers can expect when they climb into the 2023 model year combines.

The Lexion 8000 Series will now feature the same cab offered on the company’s new Trion 740 combine model. “It has a lot of nice features,” says Gray. “It’s taller, a little wider, a little deeper, and a whole lot quieter inside. It’s going to make harvesting a whole lot more comfortable.”

The cab’s exterior features a brighter lighting package, maintenance steps for easier cleaning and improved mirrors. Inside, a fully adjustable, pivoting operator seat and extra wide trainer seat improve operator comfort. Additional touches include a new steering wheel, foot pegs, dual-zone HVAC controls, a new sound system, more integrated storage, and thinner A-pillars for added visibility. (Story continues after the video.)

Gray notes that the new 510-bushel grain tank is larger than other Claas models. The one-piece folding design reduces the complexity and hydraulic demand of prior 510-bushel tanks. Also, a built-in walk-through door makes for easier cleaning and maintenance.

When it comes to power, each of the three 8000 Series models comes with a significant bump in horsepower compared to the 2022 models. The Lexion 8600 is now rated at 483 hp with 542 hp maximum power; the Lexion 8700 is rated at 543 hp and a maximum 577 hp; the Lexion 8800 is rated at 610 hp and 653 hp.

In the video, Gray also discusses the combine’s slow-feed feature, which protects drivelines and belts from high-stress loads; how dynamic steering creates a tight turning radius; and the availability of a wider Convio 1530 flex draper header.
