A new face to agriculture, but certainly not a new face on Parliament Hill, Kyle Larkin has stepped up to lead the Grain Growers of Canada.
Larkin has served in political and lobbying efforts for a decade, including working with two Members of Parliament one of whom served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister.
He most recently has been lobbying on behalf of associations, work that he says he really enjoys, which is what has brought him to Grain Growers of Canada.
Larkin has a tight timeline to get up to speed on key issues before Parliament resumes in September, but he’s already got his top three priorities mapped out: passing Bill C-234, having expanded interswitching made permanent with an extended distance, and working on the Road to 2050 report.
He replaces Erin Gowriluk, who moved to the Canada Grains Council this spring after serving as the executive director of Grain Growers for the past four years.
Larkin joined RealAg Radio show host Shaun Haney to discuss his background, priorities and if he will work to bring Grain Farmers of Ontario back to the GGC table:
