Tractor-maker Versatile is moving toward a future with autonomous tractors through a partnership with Alberta-based Mojow Autonomous Solutions.
Mojow, which was founded in 2020, has completed three months of testing its EYEBOX controller on a high-horsepower four-wheel-drive Versatile tractor, controlling all the tractor functions, including steering, propulsion, lights, ignitition and activation of hydraulics.
“We are working directly with a resourceful team of engineers from Versatile who are experts on the inner workings of their tractor lineup. This relationship will streamline integration for quick turnaround to market viability,” says Mojow president Owen Kinch.
The companies plan to continue testing throughout the summer, and expand the field validation work to a small number of farms for the upcoming season.

Mojow’s technology primarily uses camera sensors to continually assess the environment the tractor is operating in, with the controlling communicating with the tractor via the CANBUS plug.
