Health care is a top concern for all Canadians, but for those living in rural areas emergency care can be hours away by car. The STARS air ambulance service is one solution to emergency care, and a Saskatchewan event last month raised over $500,000 for this critical service.
For the last six years, the Field of Stars event has brought together members of the agriculture community to support the STARS ambulance service. In that time, the event has raised over $2.3 million, says chair of this year’s event, Alanna Koch.
Koch says that this year the team really decided to push for a big goal and set a half-million dollars as the target. Through hard work, dedication, and a huge event in Saskatoon, the 2023 event exceeded that goal and raised about $530,000.
Held in conjunction with Ag in Motion, the 2023 Field of Stars presented by Nutrien was held at Prairieland Park in Saskatoon. Between raffle tickets, a 50/50 draw, and the band Doc Walker for entertainment, Koch says the event was an absolute success.
