The Agronomists, Ep 120: Wheat midge, grasshoppers, aphids and more with Drs. John Gavloski and James Tansey

by

Insect problems often come in cycles, waves, and even by stiff breezes. Knowing which pests are carried in, purposefully march in, or overwinter is key to determining when in the year to begin scouting and where to look.

From sticky traps to sweep nets, the insect population in any crop is staggering. But not all that crawl or fly are pests, and knowing friend from foe matters — especially when deciding on whether or not an insecticide pass is required.

To tackle what’s up with grasshoppers, midges, aphids and more, this episode of The Agronomists features provincial entomologists James Tansey, of Saskatchewan Agriculture, and John Gavloski, of Manitoba Agriculture.

This episode of the Agronomists is brought to you by ADAMA Canada, the Successors, and the Pests & Predators podcast!
