Kubota showed off its new precision planters at Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show at Woodstock, Ont., earlier this month.
The Kubota PP1641TF is an eight-row precision planter with 30-inch spacing designed mainly for corn growers. Kubota product specialist Jeff Fuller says it’s a good fit for small- to medium-sized farms, including smaller acreage corn and soybean growers as well as dairy operations.
The planter comes with electric drive row units and is equipped with dry fertilizer capabilities, including section control. Fuller says the eight-row unit is the largest available but farmers do have a range of models to choose from.
“We have a PP1450V, which has a nice feature with a telescopic toolbar, where you can actually adjust that row spacing to do your soybeans and your corn,” notes Fuller. A range of mounted rigid planters in four- and six-row spacing are also available.
