Corteva Agriscience has launched Straxan fungicide treatment for cereals that provides protection against both seed- and soil-borne diseases.
“Farmers have been relying on Corteva for cereal solutions for a number of years, mostly through our herbicide portfolio, and so the introduction of Straxan fungicide really just adds to that list of trusted cereal protection products from Corteva,” says Nicole Philp, Commercial Launch Specialist with Corteva.
Straxan fungicide seed treatment is easy to apply, Philp says, and treated seed performed well using various equipment set ups.
Registered for wheat, barley and oats, Straxan’s formulation is a strong product on its own; however, it also mixes well with insecticide seed treatments for even more seedling protection, she says. Lumivia CPL insecticide seed treatment from Corteva adds protection from cutworm and wireworm.
“The combination of the two is just really going to enhance early season protection for cereal crops all across Western Canada,” Philp says. “We’re really seeing it consistently maximize crop stands and yield potential.”
Philp adds that Corteva is very committed to discovering, developing, and delivering high quality seed treatment products for customers.
“We are discovering novel active ingredients that really are trying to ultimately solve on-farm challenges. But also part of that discovery is ensuring that we have the right formulation that’s really easy for our customers to use,” she says. Corteva evaluates product attributes such as application, field safety, stewardship, and efficacy, before bringing a product to the Canadian market for for western Canadian growers.
