Like the Christmas decorations coming out at Costco, it feels like the variety and hybrid line-up decision keeps moving earlier and earlier each year. For some farmers, early decisions are vital in order to secure the exact variety, treatment, and trait package, but that decision is sometimes made before the current-year’s data is compiled.
To help navigate the decision, this episode of The Agronomists features Sheila Murphy with Corteva, and Chris Manchur with the Canola Council of Canada, where they cover the importance of developing a list of non-negotiable needs of any variety, why thinking short-term can lead to trouble, and how herbicide system works in to the decision on soybeans and canola.
