Case IH automation moves baler control to the tractor cab


From closing the bale chute to kicking that last bale out of the baler, Case IH, with help from ISOBUS technology, now delivers a higher level of automated baler controls from inside the tractor cab.

In this report from Agritechnica, CNH Industrial baler automation guru Gerd Gerdes shares some of the features North America farmers can expect to see on new Case IH balers for 2024.

Gerdes says a light detection and ranging (LIDAR) sensor mounted on the top of the tractor cab holds the key to many of the new automated controls. The sensor, for example, can scan and determine hay volume in the windrow and increase or decrease tractor speed based on incoming volume to increase efficiency.

Gerdes says advances in baler automation play a key role of optimizing both the tractor and baler during peak production times, with less reliance on operator skills and experience. See the video below.
