Mind Your Farm Business — Ep. 94: This AND that: learning farm and business skills in tandem

by

Did you always know what you wanted to be when you grew up?

For many, their career arc is not necessarily what they planned. Many who start in one field discover and become fascinated with another. Others identify opportunities and switch gears accordingly. Some people just fall in to a job they love.

When deciding on a diploma or degree, it can be daunting to lock down your exact goals, but thinking broadly about interests, talents and skills leaves the door open to exciting opportunities that eventually do arise in your path.

To discuss what skills are needed in farming and the agriculture industry — and why having a wide interest in topics isn’t a bad thing — host of the Mind Your Farm Business podcast, Shaun Haney, sits down with John Cranfield, acting dean of the University of Guelph’s Ontario Agriculture College. In the podcast below, hear about what courses may best serve new grads and how a varied path to a career can pay dividends later.
