How do you convert a snow removal machine into an efficient silage compactor?
At Agritechnica, RealAgriculture’s Shaun Haney spotted Maisraupe’s Leitwolf Agripower silage distributor and compactor and couldn’t resist asking that question. In this report, Maisraupe’s managing director Georg Schuler shares how the converted snow machine, powered by a 530-horsepower Mercedes engine, creates the required thrust, climbing, and turning ability to push and pack silage.
Schuler says Leitwolf Agripower offers optimal operator visibility, control and comfort. The central seating position allows all-round visibility, while the precise lever control ensures individual control. He also demonstrates how the unique piston-loaded rubber tracks work to create a shaking effect to effectively pack silage.
The track surface can be adjusted to improve silage compaction and increase maneuverability. The independent wheel suspension with hydropneumatic suspension ensures optimal ground adaptation and compaction, the company says.
The units are currently sold in Europe and Schuler says Maisraupe is working on plans to bring the machines to North America. See the video below.
