Flexible factory design for Precision Planting’s CornerStone planting system

by

Precision Planting says it wants to create a new product category with its CornerStone planting system.

“CornerStone really is everything but the planter bar,” says Caleb Schleder, Precision Planting’s director of technical services and support. At the Commodity Classic earlier this month in Houston, Texas, he shared how the company set out to build a planting system that allows growers to select the Precision Planting technology they want to integrate into the the CornerStone system and have their units factory designed. (See the video below.)

Growers can then decide what technology they need to overcome challenges and take advantage of opportunities on their farms, Schleder adds. “We’ve built the CornerStone planting system with farmers in mind, optimizing performance, maintenance and wear all while making upgrading their existing planter simple — and certainly more affordable than buying a new one.”

The planting system comes standard with a load cell and electronics already installed, allowing for easy expansion of products. Special adapter plates are no longer needed.

Key features available to growers include: a rear-tipping hopper system; a trailing gauge wheel design; a top-adjust closing alignment cam-nut system; heavy duty 15-inch opening discs with optimized spindle angle and wear-out indicator; a robust seed tube guard design and shank interface; and 14 inches of vertical travel, with built-in travel stop provision.

“We’re currently beta testing the CornerStone Planting System and, with successful field trials this spring, anticipate it being commercially available to dealers and farmers in 2025,” Schleder notes.
