Ontario crop performance data finds new home at GoCrops.ca

Ontario farmers looking for the latest performance and variety data for corn, soybeans, cereals, and beans may now visit just one site — GoCrops.ca — to compare and contrast different offerings.

A complete revamp and modernization of the four legacy sites of GoCorn.net, GoCereals.ca, GoBeans.ca and GoSoy.ca is the result of the collaborative effort between the Ontario Corn Committee (OCC), the Ontario Cereal Crops Committee (OCCC), the Ontario Pulse Crop Committee (OPCC), and the Ontario Soybean and Canola Committee (OSACC), with support from Grain Farmers of Ontario.

“With this new website, we are excited to streamline the process for our growers across Ontario to get information regarding variety performance trials across all major crops in one place,” says Joanna Follings, chair of the Ontario Cereal Crops Committee. “Providing timely, accurate information in a modern digital format is vitally important for reaching farmers. This new site will help all committees meet this need and we hope to see this become the go-to site for farmers looking for trial information.”

Ontario farmers rely on third-party variety performance trial information to guide and inform their seed selection decisions and choose which varieties to grow in their fields. GoCrops.ca provides a way for farmers to access all of this information in one easy-to-navigate spot, says Matthew Czerwinski, research lead with GFO.

Development of GoCrops.ca was funded in part by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Grain Farmers of Ontario, and the Ontario Pulse Crop Committee.
