Poll: What's the plan for hiring new team members?

Canada added 40,000 jobs last month, but the unemployment rate actually climbed to 5.8%, since we’re still adding more people than jobs to the economy.

For those in the agriculture sector, we know all too well just how tight the labour market has been and will be going forward. On the national scope, the Canadian Agricultural Human Resources Council estimates that there will be more than 100,000 vacancies by 2030. For those of you who like math, that’s just six growing seasons from now.

If you’ve recently tried to hire a harvest crew, or a jill-of-all-trades, a pen checker, or an accountant with farm knowledge, were you successful? Did you get enough good candidates, or was it a full-pull to even get someone to apply to a posted job?

In this week’s poll, we want to know if you’re looking for workers (and approximately, by percentage, how many), but we also are asking the question: is it more people you will add, or are you leaning on tech to cover more acres per day versus more people power in a day?
