Let’s hope grain markets fare better than the Winnipeg Jets did in Game 2 of their Stanley Cup playoff game last night, but if they don’t Jon Driedger, disappointed Jets fan and market analyst with Leftfield Commodity Research, says there’s still reasons to sell small into price rallies.
Where are we at right now? Big picture, supply is a big question mark, of course, but the Leftfield team is keeping close tabs on changing commodity flows globally, as well as acreage estimates close to home.
Unlike recent memory, demand in the year ahead is far from certain at this point, Driedger says, and that should be a caution for farmers deciding on new-crop sales.
It’s not overtly negative, he explains in the video below, and there’s less volatility in the markets overall, but volatility can sometimes create really attractive pricing opportunities instead of more sideways trading like we’re seeing now.
