The Manitoba Crop Alliance is now four years old, and the amalgamation of five producer groups is moving on from getting itself up and running to charting big things for its next strategic plan.
The organization that represents spring and winter wheat, flax, sunflower and barley growers in Manitoba has a focused vision for the next three years: better communications, game-changing research, and adding value close to home.
Pam de Rocquigny is the CEO of the Manitoba Crop Alliance and she says the strategic plan is concise by design. The three big goals are supported by three step goals. The big goals run the length of the three-year plan, while the stop goals will be completed in the shorter-term.
She adds that the research and value-add goals work in concert: where the value-add work finds gaps, the research goal may fill in with what’s needed to inform moving forward.
The communications piece works with these two as well, as de Rocquigny says that connecting with all 7,700 members is a continual challenge. It will be key to share all that the Manitoba Crop Alliance is doing and accomplishing, and it has to be shared in ways that actually reach farmers, she says.
