Ontario announces soybean planting extension with coverage for select counties

by

Ontario Minister of Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness Rob Flack announced via social media that farmers in eight counties will have an extended amount of time to plant soybeans and still receive coverage through Agricorp.

Farmers in Brant, Chatham-Kent, Essex, Elgin, Haldimand, Middlesex, Niagara, and Norfolk counties now have until July 2, 2024, to plant soybeans and still apply for full coverage through the crop insurance provider.

The extension gives farmers impacted by wet conditions and excessive rain more flexibility and support, Flack says in a tweet.

Farmers are asked to call Agricorp at 1-888-247-4999 or visit agricorp.com for more information.
