If refill times at seeding are a pet peeve, take a look at Väderstad’s newest air cart offering, the PD 1350, capable of covering 200 acres of canola seeding in a single fill.
That 1350 stands for bushels, and as Phil Korczak explains in this video from Ag in Motion this week, that capacity is spread over four bins with capacities of 93, 652, 392, and 213 bushels. The design allows for extended time between refills and for plenty of options with the placement of multiple types of seeds and fertilizer.
In order to handle the sheer size of the unit, Väderstad redesigned the front steering axle to address proper weight distribution across the dual VF710/70R42 flotation tires. The rear features dual VF900/60R42 tires with hydraulic disc brakes for added control. Check out the video or keep scrolling for more specs!
The PD 1350 offers the same features found on the existing line of Väderstad’s Precision Delivery air carts. This includes the Fenix III metering system, and Väderstad’s Section Control Technology, with eight independent sections. Not only does the system stop metering when encountering previously seeded ground, but it also lifts the openers to leave the existing seed and fertilizer undisturbed, Korczak says.
Väderstad’s iPad-based iCon wireless control system provides wireless control of the air cart. It offers a wide range of features, such as acres to empty, in-field calibration, and variable rate seeding capabilities. To accurately estimate remaining seed and fertilizer, the cart is equipped with individual bin load cells that weigh each bin separately and send real-time data to the iCon control.
Farmers can pre-order as of this week for delivery in 2025.
