Making mixed flow dryers cleaner and more efficient

by

A new patent-pending pre-cleaner system from AGI promises to help reduce dryer energy needs, increase efficiency and leave the farmyard much cleaner.

Farmers had an opportunity to check out the new pre-cleaner at Ag In Motion earlier this summer in Saskatoon, SK. In this report, AGI technical sales representative Ron Kleuskens notes that the optional pre-cleaner is designed to work with energy efficient mixed flow dryers, which are screen-free and built to deliver even heating and cooling to help preserve grain quality.

The system removes unwanted dust and debris emissions from grain — bees wings, fines and chaff — before they enter the dryer and reduce the energy needed to dry grain.

“It’s going to clean the material up before it enters the dryer,” says Kleuskens. “It allows us to get better penetration of the grain more efficiently. And since we’ve removed all that material, in storage, it’s going to reduce the amount of fines that are going to be concentrated in the middle of the bin. That really aids in aeration and can prolong the storage life of the crop.”

The pre-cleaner system includes Aspirator gravity fill,  a 3 HP aspirator blower with VFD, Cyclone separator and piping, and a full roof catwalk with blower access platform for 24 and 32-foot dryers. Watch the full report below.
