John Deere is expanding its tillage lineup with the addition of a new and improved minimum tillage in-line ripper. Billed as the MT series, the new implement replaces the company’s 2100 series.
In this report from the Farm Progress Show in Boone, Iowa, Deere’s go-to market manager for tillage equipment, Michael Porter, shares how the MT series offers deep tillage without disturbing the soil surface, while aiding in breaking up compaction layers and improving soil permeability.
Porter notes that Deere has also added a new coating to increase component longevity, with the life expectancy of critical parts being extended by 50 per cent. “The last thing an operator wants to worry about is replacing wear parts in the middle of a season, slowing down productivity,” says Porter. “With the extended wear coating on the MT Series, it increases wear part life expectancy and reduces replacement intervals. The simplicity and uptime of the MT Series gives farmers peace of mind knowing that no matter the condition or operator, the MT Series will always perform with little need to adjust as conditions change.”
For deep tillage operations, the ripper can reach depths of 12 to 16 inches. A new larger 11-shank model offers increased productivity, and the addition of TruSet down pressure technology ensures consistent depth control, says Porter. The MT series ranges from five to 11 shanks, catering to various tractor sizes, and will be available for order in February 2025. Watch the video below.
