Adam Pfeffer has put a lot of thought into the new shop he’s just finished at his farm at Sparta, Ont.
A cash crop farmer who runs a self-described “small to mid-sized” operation in southwestern Ontario, he also works as a market development manager for Bayer Crop Science. Growing up on the farm, Pfeffer’s wish list has always included a “nice, heated shop.” That wish came true in April 2024 when he moved into his newly-completed 75 x 86 foot shop with a 20 foot, 5 inch ceiling.
On this episode of RealAg Shops, Pfeffer gives us a shop tour, shares his goals and objectives, and why he feels it’s critical for farmers to hire a builder who understands what they are trying to accomplish with their shop build.
At the top of Pfeffer’s priority list was a building a shop that’s energy efficient and aesthetically pleasing — a focal point of the farm that would make the family proud. He also wanted an efficient work space, which includes two 28 x 18 doors, lots of natural light, floor drainage, a comfortable office space for his day job and lots of bells and whistles to create an efficient farm shop.
