New on the docket for 2025, CANTERRA SEEDS is excited to share details of the latest canola hybrid, CS3300 TF.
RealAgriculture’s Shaun Haney spoke with Courtney Welch, Canola Product Manager at CANTERRA SEEDS, to learn more about CS3300 TF and how this hybrid offers farmers key advantages in terms of yield and versatility, particularly in Western Canada.
“CS3300 TF is the newest addition to the TruFlex portion of our canola portfolio. It has first-generation clubroot resistance, multigenic blackleg resistance, and our PodProtect™ trait,” Courtney explains. This combination makes it a strong contender for farmers across the Prairies, where disease resistance and pod protection are critical. The hybrid also boasts early maturity, making it suitable for those looking to harvest earlier or farm in cooler regions.
“Of the 20 trials that I have in, it’s placing in the top two 80 per cent of the time,” says Courtney, adding that farmers who’ve tested it have reported significant improvements, praising the hybrid for better yield, pod shatter resistance, and ease of harvest.
Another exciting feature is the PodProtect trait, which provides enhanced pod shatter tolerance. Designed for superior straight cut performance, PodProtect hybrids offer total flexibility during harvest. “PodProtect is the label that we’re going to put on to products that have enhanced pod shatter tolerance protection in the field. Obviously, it’s a big demand in the marketplace to have that enhanced pod shatter protection in the field, just so it lends a little bit more flexibility come harvest time.” she says.
For farmers looking for a versatile, high-performing hybrid, CS3300 TF fits a wide geography, although growers in Edmonton’s second-gen clubroot regions might consider other CANTERRA SEEDS options, like CS2600 CR-T. With the 2025 season on the horizon, CS3300 TF looks to be a promising addition to CANTERRA SEED’ canola portfolio.
