CN train derails in fatal collision with tractor

by

An adult male from the Esterhazy, Saskatchewan, area has died as a result of a collision between the tractor he was driving and a CN Rail train near the Village of Gerald, approximately 10 miles east of Esterhazy.

About 20 cars and one locomotive derailed in the collision on Wednesday. According to RCMP, no dangerous goods were spilled.

CN employees aboard the train were taken to a nearby hospital and released on Thursday morning, according to the railway.

CN says crews worked overnight to clear the debris and it expects the track will be back in operation Thursday afternoon.
