Politics and power shifts are a hot topic in many levels of government currently. With an American election looming, a possible federal election on the horizon for Canada, and now the province of Saskatchewan going to the polls, there is no shortage of speculation about how votes will play out in the coming months.
Some of the key issues at play in Saskatchewan include the cost of living, health care and education, or the economy depending on what side of the spectrum the party is on, says Dale Richardson of Earnscliffe Strategies.
On October 28, 2024, voters in Saskatchewan will have to choose between the incumbent Saskatchewan Party, the NDP, and the Saskatchewan United Party.
Richardson says that Saskatchewan Party under Scott Moe’s leadership will need to be attentive to to the mood of the electorate to ensure that they respond to to the issues that are important to their constituents in order to stay in power.
In this interview, Richardson also highlights the potential for the NDP to gain seats, the possible splitting of votes between the Saskatchewan Party and the Saskatchewan United Party, and the political positioning of the three parties in the two major cities in the province.
