You can be forgiven if you’ve been avoiding watching the daily news out of Parliament Hill.
After all, harvest is wrapping up or in full swing, hockey is back and baseball playoffs are on. Plus, have you seen the shenanigans happening on a daily basis in Question Period? It’s all a bit much.
At the same time, it’s a really important time in Canadian politics. Indications are that this could be the twilight of this sitting of parliament, either because the opposing parties will take down the government (likely) or the Prime Minister will prorogue (increasingly more likely though still a slim chance).
As Kelvin Heppner outlines in this list of Private Member’s Bills, all of this politicking and possible end to Justin Trudeau’s reigning Liberals could also spell an end to a laundry list of bills awaiting approval. Depending on where you sit, maybe it’s best these bills die on the order paper, but perhaps you feel there are some that really, really need to pass.
That’s what we want to know. If you had to get one past the goal line before the government falls, which would you choose?
