Popham returns as B.C.’s ag minister

B.C. Premier David Eby is bringing back a familiar face to represent agriculture in his new cabinet.

Lana Popham was sworn in as B.C.’s Minister of Agriculture and Food as Eby unveiled his cabinet on Monday following the narrow win for his incumbent NDP in the provincial election last month.

Popham served as B.C.’s ag minister from 2017 to 2022, when she became the Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport.

Pam Alexis, who replaced Popham as ag minister in December 2022, lost her re-election bid to the Conservative Party of B.C. candidate in her Abbotsford-Mission riding.

Eby appointed Harwinder Sandu as Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture.
