The mental wellness program that offers up to nine free confidential counselling sessions per year to Manitoba farmers, farm families, and their employees has received charitable status from the Canada Revenue Agency.
The designation is a milestone for the Manitoba Farm Wellness Program, says chair Marcel Hacault, in a Dec. 11 news release shared with RealAgriculture.
“It not only strengthens our accountability, but also expands our ability to raise funds and better serve Manitoba’s farming community,” he says. “We are excited about the new opportunities this brings and deeply grateful for the continued support of our community.”
The non-profit organization, which started providing free counselling in 2022, can now issue tax receipts to donors and sponsors. The status will also enable applications for grants and funding opportunities that require a registered charity designation.
