Picking rocks from fields has been required back-breaking work since fields have been cleared for farming. The practice protects expensive equipment from being damaged, increases seed to soil contact, and creates smoother fields.
Todd Hofmann of Schulte says that he is thankful that the days of hand-picking are long past as he discusses the Spartan RWP-1935 at Agri-Trade in Red Deer, Alta.
The Spartan RWP-1935 is a rock raker and picker in one unit. While Schulte has been making rock pickers and rakers for many years, this piece of equipment was inspired by the combo units that are more commonly seen in Europe, says Hofmann.
A hydraulic drive with PTO pump runs the machine and the windrowers can be angled in and out, as well as have variable widths. The Spartan RWP-1935 windrows the rock and debris into the center, allowing it to be picked up by the rock picker, depositing it into the bucket and allowing all of this to be done in one pass.
