Manitoba farm equipment dealer AgWest Ltd. is expanding into Saskatchewan with the acquisition of two dealerships in the eastern part of the province.
AgWest has acquired Agriterra Equipment’s two Saskatchewan locations at Yorkton and Weyburn, as of January 15, 2025.
The deal was announced at Manitoba Ag Days in Brandon, Man. this week.
“This is a natural extension of our current presence in Elie, Neepawa, Brandon, Russell, and the Swan River region in Manitoba. This expansion brings us closer to Prairie farmers, enabling us to provide the localized support and premium solutions they rely on to succeed,” says Ronald Slaats, CEO of AgWest Ltd.
AgWest says the Yorkton and Weyburn dealerships will continue to provide AGCO (Fendt and Massey Ferguson) parts and service, with the addition of Precision Planting and PTx Trimble offerings through AgWest’s Precision Plus team. Current Agriterra staff will be retained, according to AgWest.
“For over 30 years, AgWest has been proud to support Manitoba farmers with trusted service and dependable equipment. Expanding into Yorkton and Weyburn allows us to bring that same commitment, along with precision agriculture tools, to even more farmers across the Prairies,” added Rene “Tiger” Allard, AGCO Sales Manager at AgWest.
Agriterra has 10 branches in Alberta, in Stony Plain, Sherwood Park, Camrose, Lougheed, High River, Vegreville, Dewberry, Eckville, Grande Prairie, and Waskatenau. They sell AGCO products, including Fendt, Rogator, Gleaner and Massey Ferguson machines, as well as other brands, such as Caterpillar Ag Equipment, Bourgault, Cub Cadet, and Stihl.
Since 2023, AgWest is owned by Netherlands-based Mechan International, part of the Zweegers Equipment Group, which distributes AGCO and CLAAS globally.
