Liberal leadership race gives rural Canadians a say in the next Prime Minister, says Blois

With interesting times unfolding in the U.S. political scene, Canada seems to have said, “hey U.S., hold my beer,” says Shaun Haney of RealAgriculture. There’s plenty happening in Canadian politics with Parliament being prorogued, a Liberal leadership race, and potential tariffs on the horizon.

When it comes to the Liberal leadership race, Kody Blois, Liberal MP for the Kings-Hants riding of Nova Scotia, says that this is not only an opportunity for the party but also for the country. With some big issues coming down the pipe, there are a lot of questions surrounding how to grow the economy and focus on competitiveness, Blois says.

Blois says that there is a unique opportunity in this leadership race for the farming community, including listeners of RealAgriculture, to register for a Liberal membership and get involved in the voting process in which members will determine who the next Prime Minister is.

“What I want to say is, Shaun, you and I are proud rural Canadians. So are your listeners, I know… let’s make sure that the agricultural sector, or certainly rural industry, is at the forefront of the leadership campaign for the Liberal Party, and we’ll see where the chips land.”
