Capacity and flexibility are features of the Brandt 1345 B Series U-Trough auger

Capacity and flexibility are both important when it comes to choosing an auger that will help speed up moving grain at harvest.

The Brandt 1345 B Series U-Trough, featuring a 13-inch U-trough, nearly doubles the capacity of a standard round-tube auger. In this interview at Crop Production Show at Saskatoon, Sask., Trevor Feicht of Brandt Industries explains that this design allows material to float above the flighting, increasing capacity while reducing product damage.

Feicht says that the unit can transport anywhere from 6900 to 9000 bushels an hour, has a newly placed engine mount that is more convenient for fueling and features a 40-horsepower Vanguard engine with an electronic ignition.

While two-wheel-drive is typically adequate on augers, the 1345 B Series U-Trough also sports an all-wheel-drive system, which Feicht says will help growers when they’re dealing with snowbanks, inclines and traction issues. Combined with the low profile flex hopper, Feicht says the 1345 B Series can actually get to places that other augers cannot.
