FreeForm Plastics crop divider works to save a little yield potential every pass

Anyone that had a piggy bank as a child knows very well that pennies can add up quickly. The same principle works when farmers save pennies over the course of thousands of acres — the savings add up.

Crop dividers mounted on high-clearance sprayers help minimize crop damage by gently splitting plants ahead of the equipment as it moves through the field. Trevor Malkoske, sales marketing manager of Freeform Plastics, highlights the potential yield savings crop dividers add up to in a crop such as wheat in this interview from the Crop Production Show in Saskatoon, Sask.

“If you saved as little as a bushel an acre, even, say, at seven dollar wheat… put that over 10,000 acres, that adds up really quick, so it more than pays for itself in just even a short season,” Malkoske says.

Where the Freeform Plastics crop divider differentiates itself from the competitors is in the ability to lift and lower the crop dividers using a touchscreen dial that is controlled in the cab using an electric actuator, says Malkoske.

He adds that the initial installation can be mounted by one person in approximately four to six hours, and that includes the cabling and mounting the actuator inside the cab.
