Two years after handing off distribution of its conventional soybean seed portfolio, Syngenta Seeds is making a similar move with its traited NK brand soybeans across Canada.
Starting with the 2026 crop season, NK traited soybeans will be distributed by Pitura Seeds in Western Canada and Jackson Seed Service in Eastern Canada.
“The strategic relationships with Pitura Seeds and Jackson Seed Service combine each organization’s local expertise with Syngenta’s market-leading NK soybean genetics, ensuring continued success for growers,” says Dan Wright, head of Syngenta Seeds, in a Feb. 4 news release.
Based at Dresden, Ont., Jackson Seed Service is “excited to offer choice for both growers and dealers,” says seed manager Jarod Jackson. “We have long believed in the value of NK genetics and have seen first-hand the benefit they bring growers.”
Pitura Seeds, located at Domain, Man., is also “excited to support NK soybeans and their retail partners in delivering these proven genetics to farmers,” says president Tom Greaves. “We are proud to continue the legacy of NK soybeans in the West.”
Both distributors will be connecting with current NK traited soybean retail customers in preparation for 2026, they say.
While no longer distributing NK beans, Syngenta says it remains committed to breeding new NK varieties.
In 2023, Syngenta moved its conventional soybean seed portfolio to a new licensing and distribution model under the Silverline brand. Jackson Seed Service and Hensall Co-op have looked after distribution of the company’s conventional beans since the 2024 crop year.
On the corn side, Syngenta says it will continue to offer a full range of NK and Enogen corn hybrids.
