Whether you’re a grower, agronomist, or ag retailer, Westfield, Indiana-based Taranis believes its crop intelligence platform can play a key role in helping make the right crop management decisions throughout the growing season.
The foundation of the Taranis program is artificial intelligence (AI). Cory Edge, the company’s customer success influencer, is a big believer in the program — he emphasizes AI’s ability to work tirelessly and without excuses or fatigue to deliver information reliably and efficiently. In this report from Commodity Classic in Denver, Colorado, Edge shares how Taranis began working 10 years ago to train AI to identify various issues such as stand counts, nutrient deficiencies, diseases, and insect damage.
Using drone flights and AI, the platform can now deliver unbiased and consistent data to enhance decision-making for growers, says Edge. He adds that AI’s ability to capture and analyze data quickly and effectively allows for virtual crop scouting and faster and more informed decisions.
“It boils down to this: it’s as simple as we use drones, we take pictures, and we have an AI platform that tells you what’s going on in the field,” says Edge. “You can be more precise, you can be more efficient with your time and you can maximize ROI opportunities that exist — not only during the season but at the end of the year when you’re talking about management decisions moving forward.”
In the interview, Edge discusses the company’s different service packages and the potential for Taranis to enter the Canadian market.
