Capacity and versatility make self-propelled TMR mixer good fit for dairy operations

by

Ontario dairy farmers got their first look at Highline Manufacturing’s AMX1000S self-propelled TMR mixer at the Canadian Dairy XPO at Stratford, Ont.

The Vonda, Sask.-based manufacturer built the twin-screw, 1,000 cubic foot mixer to deliver capacity for feed rations as well as the ability to move around farming operations with relative ease, says Highline’s director of international sales Claude Rouault.

In this report, Rouault says the AMX1000S for is a good fit for dairy operations with 300 head or larger. For beef, the mixer makes sense in feedlots or cow-calf operations with 1,800 head.

A big, nimble feed mixer, it features a Cummins B6.7 six cylinder Diesel engine that delivers 310 horsepower and powers both the drive system and the screws. “We’ve used it in all types of conditions — in hilly terrain and off-road conditions — and we’ve had enough power to complement what we’re doing,” Rouault notes.

In the cab, producers will find a different look and feel. “We have a larger cab than a lot of our competitors. It has a buddy seat there and it’s great for training. Our software is very intuitive and there’s not a lot of complexity to our system,” adds Rouault. The user can control many settings, including mix RPMs and travel modes using a touch screen in the cab. Watch the video below.
