Cattleytics redefining AI in dairy production

by

Veterinarian Dr. Shari van de Pol and her team at Cattleytics are redefining how AI is used in dairy production.

No, van de Pol doesn’t have any plans to reconceive artificial insemination, but her agricultural technology firm is tapping into the power of artificial intelligence to enhance the dairy management services it delivers to dairy producers.

Using the Cattleytics app, producers can create protocol templates, set recurring tasks, and use shift scheduling and staff training features. A new twist is the app’s ability to integrate AI for protocol creation, contextual translation, and linking to educational resources.

In this interview from the Canadian Dairy XPO in Stratford, Ont., van de Pol demonstrates how AI allows producers to use basic instructions and a single tap on the app to generate protocols for tasks such as cleaning calf bottles.

“Being able to do this at the touch of a button was something we would dream of in the past, and we have it right here in farmers’ hands today,” says van de Pol. Another update allows producers to address language barriers by allowing them to take pictures and annotate them for clarity.

Additional features like contextual translation into Spanish and linking to educational videos are available to aid in task execution. Watch the video below.
