Deere sprayer updates target a better bottom line

Sprayer updates from John Deere will help farmers save input costs, reduce crop damage and help the bottom line, the company says.

At Commodity Classic in Denver, Colorado, Deere rolled out a series of updates for its sprayer lineup, including new See & Spray Select variable rate technology and AutoTrac automation and ExactApply improvements.

In this report, Josh Ladd, Deere’s go-to-market manager for application, notes that the company’s See & Spray technology continues to evolve. He says new variable rate capabilities give growers an opportunity for precise application, and product savings, in later-season fungicide, desiccant, pre-harvest passes and more.

With the new variable rate capabilities, Ladd says farmers can now see the percentage of biomass each camera detects throughout the field. Each camera rates the amount of green biomass detected and varies the volume of product applied by percentage. Farmers then adjust how much product they wish to apply on an individual nozzle level based on the green biomass percentages, giving them the ability to apply product where it is most needed.

“The new variable rate option with See & Spray technology gives small-grain farmers the versatility to apply less or more of a solution based on the given scenario,” Ladd said. “This allows the farmer the ability to precisely apply product no matter the time of season.”

In the video, Ladd looks at a series of updates, including how AutoTrac Turn Automation and AutoTrac Vision 2.0 help provide consistent passes across the field with each application, and how ExactApply variable rate can help farmers apply product more accurately.
