Saskatchewan-based K-Hart teams up with NEXAT self-driving platform

by

K-Hart Industries, a Saskatchewan-based manufacturer of no-till seeding equipment, has announced a collaboration with NEXAT, a German-developed, self-driving farm machine that streamlines fieldwork and reduces soil compaction.

K-Hart’s mission is to support farmers with machines that increase productivity while promoting the long-term sustainability of agriculture, says Arvinder Jabal, CEO of K-Hart Industries in a recent blog post. He says that NEXAT’s vision of taking conventional farming methods and then combining them into a single system “fits perfectly” with K-Hart’s vision.

First tested in a corn field in Ukraine in September 2024, a K-Hart direct seeding system ran on a NEXAT platform in a field that had been harvested less than 24 hours earlier, with plant residue completely covering the soil, says Jabal. “The seamless performance of both systems in these challenging conditions was a turning point. It became clear to us that this collaboration could provide invaluable added value to farmers,” he says.

When it comes to the future of this partnership, he foresees it driving significant innovation. “The biggest opportunities lie in using precision agriculture, automation, and data-driven solutions to create more efficient and sustainable farming practices. Together, we aim to set new standards for efficiency and sustainability in farming,” says Jabal.
