Using artificial intelligence to create field boundaries

by

Case IH will use artificial intelligence (AI) to add boundary creation capabilities to its FieldOps program for 2026.

The Wisconsin-based machinery manufacturer launched FieldOps last year to deliver an all-in-one operations management solution that it says will empower operators to manage and visualize their fleet at anytime from anywhere.

In this report from Commodity Classic in Denver, Colorado, Kendal Quandahl, Case’s precision segment lead for FieldOps, looks at the program’s three main features including connectivity to dealerships for remote equipment troubleshooting; agronomic data management for storing planting and harvesting data; and fleet management for tracking equipment on the farm.

The new AI boundary creation tool uses as-applied maps and satellite imagery to set accurate boundaries. “It’s a great way to get started in boundary management, says Quandahl. “And then if you chose to use an updated in-field RTK-recorded boundary in the future, we can load that right in over the top.”

Quandahl also highlights the tool’s inventory management capabilities, which help farmers track and manage their inventory — from seed to fertilizer — more efficiently to avoid shortfalls and ensure required inputs are available throughout the growing season. Watch the video below.
