Every growing season is marked by wins and losses, weather events, and production highs or lows. The 2025 cropping season is fully underway across Canada, and the challenges faced in each region are unique and at times opposite.
For example, parts of Quebec have been too wet to get much in the ground, but areas of Saskatchewan haven't seen a drop of spring moisture. Much of Ontario was very cool, gray, and damp — but parts of the Prairies were being baked by super high temps in May. As balance, parts of Saskatchewan had a light frost in mid-May.
Then, there's the smoke from a very active early wildfire season that, as of Friday, had made its way all the way to Ontario and Quebec.
At the farm level, all sorts of things can define a spring season: labour woes, equipment breakdowns (or lost GPS signals!), a major pest problem, and more. So, we want to know what your biggest challenge has been this spring.
