Corn School: Managing & Maintaining Soil Nutrient Budgets

by

Just as in money management, investments you make in your farm’s soil nutrient bank account may be short or long term. Depending on the nutrient, crop yields, the weather and soil type, nutrient levels and availability may need immediate deposits or a long-term plan to ensure there’s enough “money” there when the crop needs it.

In this Corn School episode, Bernard Tobin and Aaron Stevanus, market agronomist with PRIDE Seeds, discuss the concept of treating your soil’s nutrient reserves as a bank account, which nutrients are like RRSPs (and which are like cash), and the crop production factors that may require more deposits sooner rather than later.
